Dr. Althausen received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. While in medical school, he also received an MBA in healthcare administration from the same institution. His orthopaedic residency was completed at the University of California Davis Medical Center. After residency, Dr Althausen completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has been practicing at the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic since 2005.
Dr. Althausen is subspecialty trained in trauma and focuses on both pediatric and adult fracture care. Special areas of interest include pelvis and acetabular fractures, periarticular fractures, and complex polytraumatic injuries. He currently serves as a visiting clinical professor at the University of California Davis Medical Center and UNR. He remains committed to teaching and research. Dr. Althausen has published a variety of articles and textbook chapters and is currently involved in multiple projects concerning pelvic and acetabular injuries, compartment syndrome and periarticular fracture care.Dr. Althausen is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Althausen's orthopaedic specialty is in trauma.
